As babies they can be. Neither of mine were and are actually both really sweet snakes. Just keep in mind that its depends on the snake. Some may be the spawn of Satan and others as sweet as pie. mmmmmm pie. lol.

Ive got 2 real puppy dog tame males. And a female thats calming down.

Like said above, they're like any other snake. When they're babies, they're more defensive. And should calm down with age and regular handling.

    Re: Are all bloods grumpy?

I have encountered far more aggressive royals ( balls ) than I have Bloods dont buy into the bad rap they have.

Bloods threaten more than they do strike in my experience, as has been said as hatchlings like a lot of snakes they are a bit flightly and can strike now and again but regular handling and especially as they grow into adults they tend to calm down more.

If you really want one then I would advise you to go and mingle with a few and handle some if you are able to do so.

They will hiss and huff and stare the hell out of you but thats part of their charm.

As with any snake you learn what their little quirks are as you raise them and you'll be able to understand and read their behavior more easily so getting bit becomes a matter of you making a mistake rather than your snake being grumpy or mean. It's all in how you interact with them so ignore the bad rap they have, its meaningless.

Agreed, my bloods have their own attitude but they are all sweeties. I have never been bitten by them yet. Hint yet haha

It's strange when I think about it but I must have made at least a dozen mistakes handling my Blood which should have gotten me nailed but he hasn't once tagged me. I should have plenty of scars by now.
