    Kenyan Sand Boa: cohabitation

So I just took delivery of two baby KSB's and while their general care seems pretty basic, I've heard rumors of people keeping KSB's together, but I wanted to get some more opinions on this before I actually do it. I don't want a cage match!

    Thanks.

I don't know anything about KSBs but I've always heard not to keep ANY snakes together- regardless of species, age, size, etc.

I used to have two KSB's.

Male and Female in the same tank with no problems.

I read that this is not a problem.

Though they will breeding when they hit that certain age.

I've heard of lots of people keeping kenyans in pairs. It seems like as long as you do it when they're young it's fine.

I don't know from experience but I'm thinking of getting a pair so I asked around too.

I have heard of people keeping females together then adding a male for breeding. I don't think I would raise a female and a male in the same tank. Seems like you could have some unauthorized breeding attempts. Or, breeding attempts at too young of an age.

Please do not let a male and female live together. Like the comment said above, a snake does not know when and when it's not okay to breed and you will have two to young of age and possibly size snakes trying to breed together. If the female does happen to get pregnant it can easily kill her before full term and can kill her and babies when she'd go in to labor. Please for the snake of your snakes do not let them live together, unless they are of age and a good weight and you do plan on breeding them. Other then that, they should live separately at all times.

I feel silly having not considered that. But that's why i don't have a pair yet cause I'm still working things out. I'll have to ask the people who kept young ones together how it turned out. Even if they we're lucky it does sound like a bad idea.

Do you ever wonder how they survived millions and millions of years without us to help them?
