What is so sad is a tragic loss of life. Why we are saddened so much by it is because we can't explain it in our mind and so we are left only feeling it. And only feeling something, without the distractions of our logic, is very powerful.
Ben's situation has been very powerful for all of us. It is a deep feeling. Our collective mind has no explanation for it; no rationale.
But life does not suck.
