guess what crawled into my bed at about 6 this morning
A snake?
Nope.
A little basenji?
Nope.
Kitten?
Nooooo....
An escaped baby rat!!!!!! My daughter, without permission, opened the cage and held one and lost him and was too embarassed to tell me, which made it quite hard to find him. He was MIA for about three days. Well. It was cold last night, and I assume he was looking for warmth. I felt something moving but didn't really wake up and realize what it was for quite a while. When I finally did wake up, I grabbed the moving little critter under the blanket, peeled the blankets back, whereupon baby rat screamed, bit me and leaped off the bed. Lost again! I crawled around blearily trying to find him but he was gone.
So I made traps out of soda 24 pack boxes. I put pieces of bagel and peanut butter in the back of about five boxes and placed them around my dresser and closet. It worked! He crawled in to eat and I was able to put him safely back in the cage.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

The screaming and biting part was my favorite.
That was a good story.

Heehee. The screaming and biting were pretty funny to me too. But my favorite part was him not getting eaten by a kitten or a dog.
