Just my 2 cents...

I think a lot of this depends on where your passion lies. If you love your work, are passionate about it, and want to remain in the field, then the promotion is worth it in the long run.

If, on the other hand, this is just a job and is lacking your passion, it doesn't really matter.

There is so much potential in one's lifetime that spending so many hours without having much passion for what they do seems...wasteful.

Who are you and where are your passions??? Perhaps looking inward will help you to look outward.
