mOOkfu- You know darn well that you will be sleeping on the couch if you knock the Po Po. Today, it is not only for safety that more than one cop car that shows up but also to be a witness with all the lawsuits today. Current training of Police is such and with statistical studies being made of who is getting pulled over that a cop would really have to be determined to engage in racial profiling today. When I was young I was treated as a potential suspect whenever I had contact with Police and so were my children. Today, now that I am an old dude the Police smile and say hello to me. I agree that younger people are often treated in a different manner than older people. This is probably in part both because young people are more likely to be doing something foolish and also because they can get away with it. Cops are paid to enforce the laws and in the examples given in this thread that is what they did. Today, with the bad economy it is clear to me that cops are enforcing more laws in order to fine people and raise revenue to show the bean counters that there is no reason to lay off Police officers. I hadn't had a traffic ticket in over 25 years and I have received 2 in the last year, both for going 5 miles an hour over the speed limit. The majority of people that I know have recently received traffic tickets, including my wife and my daughter in law. While this generates feelings in me similar to those expressed by the OP I have to admit that they are just enforcing the law and not framing people.
