Police here have no lives..
Around 2 A.M. I see lights start flickering outside my room. So of course, as always, I go out and eves drop. They pulled over a car. Do they need one car? No. They need FOUR! They pulled over a couple kids. One black, the driver; and one white, the passenger. The cops ask the black kid to step out of the car, so he does. Then they search him. Then they search the car, then they start searching the grass acting like he threw out a weapon or drugs as they was getting pulled over. Turns out the black kid was 16 so he was violating curfew while his friend was over 17, no curfew for 17 year olds. They let the white driver go. They put the black kid in handcuffs and in the back of the car and went on their way to the station.
Am I the only one who thinks these cops are racist?
A couple months ago, they pulled over a black woman. Took her out of the car, searched her, searched the car, gave her a sobriety test, and had her car towed... why? Because she had no insurance. They needed two squad cars and a captain for that.
I live in a 95%+ white neighborhood, no black cops at all.
I got some pics (bad ones)
Two cars

The other two cars and the driver's car

Black kid out of the car

Black kid being searched

Talking to the kid

Searching the car

Two cops talking, left; kid sitting on the hood

Right before they put him in cuffs and took him away

Re: Police here have no lives..
Pictures were bad because the portion's of the fence I was standing by are full of rocks and gravel and I was making a good amount of noise. They flashed their lights by me a couple times. And I couldn't use the flash because they might have thought it was a gun or try taking my camera as 'evidence'.

Re: Police here have no lives..
that is pretty weak.i live in a 90% white area too and if a cop sees a black person they most likely get harassed.its pretty sad

Curfew? What time is the curfew for 16 year olds? I thought America was a free country? I wonder if I was ever supposed to have a curfew when I was 16...

Re: Police here have no lives..
Our cops do stuff like that .. but to everyone. We live in a town of ~12,000, so if ANYONE gets pulled over there are at least 3 squad cars, and another up a block directing traffic around the stop. One of my friends got pulled over (17yo white male) and he had 3 cars there, his vehicle searched .. whole bit, and they let him go with a warning (speeding or something was the original reason for the stop)
Here it's just a case of nothing ever happening here, so when ever anything happens that can occupy some time .. they all go for it at once.
Point of Order - Our town may have just become less of a quiet place tonight. 3 shot dead behind the mall. Word on the street is it was due to an old guy being mad about some loud music.

10:30 P.M. Monday-Thursday, 11:30 P.M. Friday-Sunday.
They need to redefine the word 'free'.
Mainly they're trying to keep kids off the streets late so they aren't causing trouble. It's not working too well...

Re: Police here have no lives..
most of the cops here in this city shoot first and ask questions later. i understand we are kinda a border town but they sure do love pullin that trigger. ive been pulled over twice, once on my bike and once in a car both times they called for backup and had their guns drawn before having me walk backwards to be searched then handcuffed for questioning. they really like to abuse their power down here.

Re: Police here have no lives..
I never thought I'd actually be defending a cop some day, but here goes. Pretty much that whole story you just told was standard procedure. Having multiple squad cars is a safety issue. Whenever one car pulls someone over on the streets, they're supposed to call for at least one other car to back them up in case something goes wrong. Being that you don't actually KNOW what happened, it sounds like your over reacting. How do you know the cops didn't see him throw something out the window when they were pulling him over? Even if it was just a ciggarette butt, they have to check it out. They arrested the kid that was breaking curfew, and let the one who wasn't go. They towed someone's car who didn't have insurance because guess what, in most states it's illegal to drive without insurance! It sounds like you're trying to make a race issue out of nothing to me, because I've seen all these things happen to plenty of white people around here. Just because you don't like a law doesn't mean it's optional.

mOOkfu- You know darn well that you will be sleeping on the couch if you knock the Po Po. Today, it is not only for safety that more than one cop car that shows up but also to be a witness with all the lawsuits today. Current training of Police is such and with statistical studies being made of who is getting pulled over that a cop would really have to be determined to engage in racial profiling today. When I was young I was treated as a potential suspect whenever I had contact with Police and so were my children. Today, now that I am an old dude the Police smile and say hello to me. I agree that younger people are often treated in a different manner than older people. This is probably in part both because young people are more likely to be doing something foolish and also because they can get away with it. Cops are paid to enforce the laws and in the examples given in this thread that is what they did. Today, with the bad economy it is clear to me that cops are enforcing more laws in order to fine people and raise revenue to show the bean counters that there is no reason to lay off Police officers. I hadn't had a traffic ticket in over 25 years and I have received 2 in the last year, both for going 5 miles an hour over the speed limit. The majority of people that I know have recently received traffic tickets, including my wife and my daughter in law. While this generates feelings in me similar to those expressed by the OP I have to admit that they are just enforcing the law and not framing people.
