Okay, I'm confused? I thought you lived with your boyfriend? At any rate if you are living with your parents and even if your not living with them. You owe them a certain amount of respect. They probably don't know what is needed to properly care for a BP. And it is their house which they have worked hard to provide for you. If they are concerned that is their right. It's their house. When you move into your own home you can do with it as you please. I also don't think you need to keep your room so hot to keep your tanks at a proper temp.
