    Kingsnake feeding / shedding question

On 9/13 I purchased a juvenile desert kingsnake about 12 inches long. Per the numerous books and websites I read in preparation for snake ownership I let the snake acclimate to his new environment and did not attempt to feed or handle him. At the 1 week mark I attempted to feed him a dead pinkie first by placing him in a separate container with the pinkie which was unsuccessful and second by placing him in a small paper bag over night with the pinkie which was also unsuccessful.

In addition to his not eating, his eyes have turned opaque which I have read means he is beginning his shed process which I have read could be a major reason why snakes won’t feed. So when should I attempt to feed my snake again, in a few days, or only after the shed process has completed, or some other time frame?? Thanks in advance!

Try feeding after it sheds. If it refuses again, try a live pink.
