Question here, please help

Hey everyone,

My five year old daughter has her super special super show and tell tomorrow afternoon in kindergarten(every kid gets one a year) so it is a big deal. Well she wants to bring in Fattie Lumpkin( with my assistance of course) my very very large female. However, I have a dilemma- she went into shed and turned blue and that passed so she went to clear but hasn't shed yet.

Now the question- Will it be okay if she is clear, but hasn't shed yet to take her in and let the kids see her? I would be the one handling her with my daughter.

Im no expert.. but in my experience, as long as my BP's eyes aren't blue or cloudy, his temperment is perfectly fine. If shes all clear I would assume because she can see that it would be ok.

A tip for show and tells with snakes. Keep a shed, and let all the kids handle THAT, and it's almost as cool as getting to hold the snake. I gave away so many sheds from my snakes... and still do. People just are fascinated by it.

I would be careful with this, as the show and tell is tomorrow, i would not let any of the kids touch the snake, without a waiver protecting yourself from worried parents.

If you allow the children to hold or touch the snake, make SURE they wash their hands and practice safe handling in front of them. Regardless if you know the snake or not, the last thing you need is a kid exaggerating to their parents and telling them some wild story about your animal and bringing on worse problems.

I would also make the heads of the school aware, as well as the teacher, and ask if they are comfortable with this.

i just dont want to see anything bad happen, and id certainly hate for you to get a bad rap because of some fearful parent. Kids usually arent the problem, its the adults you gotta worry about.

I always bring the hand sanitizer when I bring snakes and kids together. If you want to allow them to touch I would think you'd be okay as long as it's only the tail end. Let them use two fingers to touch from the back towards the tail. Also I would keep the head and upper portion snuggled against your body/or in a towel or blanket. Also line the kids up so you don't get surrounded, and make sure you let the kids know that it's okay if they don't want to touch the snake too. I hope that helps some.
