My KSB wont eat...
I just got an '06 male Kenyan Sand Boa less than two months ago, and I'm having problems. I've only managed to get him to eat once. Otherwise, he has refused or killed without eating it. I really dont know what to do. I tried leaving it in the tank with him with the lights turned off, and me out of the room (it was a small fuzzy so it wasnt going to bite him or anything). I've tried putting him in a smaller container with substrate and the mouse and leaving that covered. That is what worked the one time, but only once. He wont eat F/T I've tried, and seems to not want live... does anyone have suggestions on getting him to eat? He's currently in the for sale section because I just dont know what I'm going to do with him, and am hoping someone will be able to give him a better home than me. If I can get him to eat, that would be great, and I might not have to get rid of him.

Re: My KSB wont eat...
I had the same trouble with a KSB we had once, and we ended up giving him back to the breeder we got him from. Oddly enough, the breeder immediately dangled a fuzzy in front of him and he ate it without hesitation. Maybe some people just have the "touch" with feeding KSBs and some don't. (shrugs)

One thing I've noticed about all snakes is that they are picky eaters sometimes and when they get hungry enough, they will eat. They like to stress us out in the meantime though.

There is a lot of things you could try. Try using a frozen thawed fuzzy and leaving it overnight. Another tip I have used is to take a f/t fuzzy and wash it with plain Dawn dish soap. Rinse thoroughly and then offer it to him. Sometimes the sand and rubber boas are put off my the domestic mouse smell.
If the snake has only refused a couple of times I wouldn't worry. They can go a while without eating before you start having real problems.

We had ours for about 5 months and it only ate twice.
