    LOOONG BAAAAAD Day!!!!

So we closed on the new house on Monday. The house has got a nice sized building on it that I'm dropping the ceiling on and adding insulation to so that I can move my animals from my commercial location back to my own property. We started construction yesterday (Pictures of the progress are being taken so I'll post all of them once we are finished). Late yesterday afternoon..........

My father in law while assembling 2 x 6 joists put a 3 inch 40D (GIANT FRIGIN NAIL) threw two fingers. On his right hand, he nailed his pointer finger to his middle finger. The 3 inch nail stuck out a half in or so from his pointer, went threw his middle finger and just barely into his ring finger. The nail was dead center in the middle of his finger, I figured that for sure he shattered the bones in both fingers with the nail. X-rays at the ER showed that he somehow missed all his bones lucky....... He's going to a hand specialist today to see what if any tendon and other misc damage there may be.

Hoping for the best, I'll update everyone once we know more......

Oh Neil, your poor father-in-law! I'm so glad to read he's going to a specialist though since hands can be such delicate things and so easily messed up. Having gone through a delicate thumb reconstruction with one of my kids (a sports injury), I know that seeking a good specialist is the only way to go if you want to have full use and range of that hand again.

Best wishes and prayers that they will get it all sorted out for him as quickly and painlessly as possible.

First he finds you a great deal on commercial property and you re-pay him by putting him to work, shame on you

Seriously though, hope everything works out

I made it very clear to the nurse that I was not the one who shot him with the nail.......

Best wishes for a good result on the tests and a quick recovery for his poor fingers.
At least it was a unusual injury! Can't wait for pictures of the new place.

bet you got a weird look from the nurse after saying that. It may be his hand, but it could have been worse. Hope all goes well and there isn't permanent damage. congrats on the new house and look forward to seeing pics of the new snake room.

I severed a tendon in my right middle finger about a 2 months ago. I lost 1/2 the feeling in it and about 40% of the mobility. It took me a month just to be able to make a fist again and I have very little resistance strength in that finger. Luckily I'm left handed.
