Hi, today i found out my new bp is an 06 male. About 2 years old. How big should he be and how much should he weigh?

Hopefully by 2 years old, he's over 2ft long and at least 500g, but many people have much larger snakes than that at 2 years old.

And crystal was explaining to you that there isnt a set weight and size for how big or small he should be. Would you go to a doctor and say "My child is eleven years old. Whats a healthy height and weight for him?"

There are many determining factors. Maybe start by posting the weight and size of your snake...and we can give you a thumbs up or down.

Well atleast he doesnt look skinny or anything, so im guessing he's alright. Ill post his stats in a few days, he just ate.

As long as he's healthy, his size is perfect no matter what it is.

it really is VERY variable, and i remember asking this question myself when i first started out keeping these guys. It takes a bit to get a real good idea of how variable it really is!

i have some critters that, are younger than some of my others, and are already catching up in weight. I feed Just about everyone the same, on a bi weekly schedule. The Boas get a little bit different schedule, and the Bullsnakes get fed a little more often.

It is really guite amazing how different two snakes of the same age can be. I have a 1 year old female that is much bigger than my recent pick-ups (3 years and 5 years old)!!!

Here are two things to look for: do the muscles along the BP's body feel firm and toned (good), or soft and mushy (bad)? Is the skin taught and smooth (good), or loose and wrinkly (bad). Keep in mind that while the snake is in shed the skin may get loose and wrinkly, and then tighten up after the shed. As long as the skin tightens up it is fine, if it stays loose and wrinkly there are probably some nutrition or hydration issues.

Finally, a disclaimer: a snake with firm muscles and tight skin is not guaranteed to be healthy, and a snake with soft muscles and loose skin is not always going to be unhealthy
