Re: Blue Tree Python?
high blue green tree pythons are a type of selectivley bred morph of the species.
like a ball python morph but with different type of genetics.
also some female GTPs may turn blue during breeding through egg laying and some may even keep the their new colours and stay blue.

Julian stated it well.
The first genetic form he mentioned doesn't seem to breed true. THe breeders working with those lines feel it may be polygenic but as far as I know they're not sure. I could be wrong, I haven't been paying attention lately.
And the second form he mentioned is called hormonal blue.

some female GTPs turn blue while breeding and being gravid and when that happens its called "hormonal blue". some lucky breeders will have females that keep this blue colour permenantly after the breeding season although some may change back to their original colour.
breeding two blue GTPs will not guarantee you hatchlings that will grow up into blue adults but blue GTPs are selectively bred because the chance of getting GTPs that will grow up into blue adults is greatly increased.
its not a simple recessive gene and GTPs mature colours can be very unpredictable so youre not guaranteed blue adults but blue breeders increase the chances of blue offspring. like mike said, its a polygenic characteristic, so its not as predictable as recessive or dominant genes.

Re: Blue Tree Python?
From what I understand there are 3 types of blue chondros, hormonal blue, blue, and super blue.
Hormonal blue is what happens when an adult green female turns blue as a result of breeding and producing eggs. These females sometimes retain some or all of their blue coloration after laying eggs.
Blue is when a male or female chondro gains blue scales after turning green first when changing colors as it grows, for example, from a red hatchling to green, then to blue, or from a yellow hatchling to green, then to blue.
Super blue describes animals that change directly to blue from their hatchling color without turning green first.
