    genetic geeks

okay guys I'm having a brain fart on triple hets

what would you get if you bred triple het together?

    albino, axanthic, clown just examples

    and also quad hets

    albino, axanthic, clown, lav

I went to the genetics wizard however the decimals are throwing me off.

    thanks

    Re: genetic geeks

A simple way of looking at it is to break it down into its parts.

For example breeding 2 triple hets together (albino axanthic clown)

    25% will be albino
    25% will be axanthic
    25% will be clown

    1/16 will be double homozygous
    1/64 will be triple homozygous
Only 1/64 should be COMPLETELY normal (not heterozygous or homozygous for any traits)

Every animal will be 66% het for the traits it is not homozygous for.

To me that is the most simple way of viewing it.

I'm not sure what your asking but all double homozygous from the above pairing would be 66% het for the 3rd trait.

I guess what I am asking is:

    1/64? will be triple homo
1/25? will be albino 66%pos for clown and axanthic
1/25? will be axanthic 66% pos het albino and clown
1/25? will be clown 66% pos het albino and axanthic
1/12? will be double homo albino clown 66% axanthic
1/12? will be double homo albino axanthic 66% pos het clown
1/12? will be double homo axanthic clown 66% pos het albino
    etc.

don't know if the probabilty is correct

    Re: genetic geeks

If you have a core understanding on how to use punnet squares in double genes, you will be able to replicate that for as many genes as you want.

The chore is to practice that over and over until you can easily figure out a punnet with double or triple genes.

I would advise reading NERD's walkthrough in genetic punnets, and just practice practice practice.

That's the best way I learned it, and it's really easy to do triples and quads once you have the punnets figured out.

I have a pretty good idea when it comes to double recessive but not on triples or quads
