Re: FedEx does it again
Dang I hope that paradox makes it ok. I would hunt someone down if something happened to a snake like that while it was being shipped. You'd think for the amount that they charge us to send live animals they'd take a little more care with them.

I know, but once it makes it to the delivery truck on time, it shouldn't be that delayed. Like I said, It's not even raining in Miami. The storm they are talking about on the website is hitting Louisianna and Mississippi today. Even mine was 2 1/2 hours late due to extreme weather, which consisted of clouds and a little light rain.

You and me both. I called and asked what the hell was up with that truck, and all he would say was that there's extreme weather (partly cloudy) and that he guaranteed it would be delivered today. Gee, thanks Fedex.

Sorry, I thought I told everyone I had ever talked to when she hatched out You were pretty late with this one, Susan. T's half way around the world, and he called me 2 hours after I first posted her picture up. Where you been? I missed you in Daytona, too. Everyone was giving me crazy looks when I asked them, "what that smell like?".

Re: FedEx does it again
I just called again, over 4 hours past the guaranteed arrival time, and she said it was due to extreme weather situations. I repeated what I've said here, that it's been on a truck all day in a city where it's not even raining. She asked if it was a medical emergency, and I said there would be one if my expensive snake didn't get delivered alive and with the quickness (me having a heart attack, not committing a violent act). I'm expecting a call back once they talk to the driver. I know Florida is the sunshine state, but partly cloudy shouldn't be considered a weather emergency. And it's now 89 there.

Re: FedEx does it again
Hey Jake, not to be ugly or anything, but "extreme weather" means a heck of a lot more than just rain and such.....like flooding. Miami is very low and they took a butt load of water in the last three weeks, and are about to get somemore. Yeah FedEx stinks at times, but you have to think about more than just the forcast after a couple of hurricanes have gone through an area. I am in NW FL and I refuse to send or receive any shipments this week because of expected delays, weither it is because the planes might have to contend with the remenants of Gustav or the fact the roads are just messed up having to contend with refugees running from the hurricane and now returning home, or flooded roads, etc. I hope your girl gets there safe and sound, but it is just not the best week to send anything to FL. Unfortunately, with Hannah, Ike, and Josephine, might not be good the next several weeks. Just a heads up for anybody considering shipping through FL., call before and ask if there are delays in the area you are shipping to.

Thanks for the input. I understand that, and I looked into it before I shipped. The things you mentioned are what worried me more than anything. It shouldn't postpone delivery to almost 5 hours late and counting. And what about the extreme wheather in Chicago. My snake was 2 hours+ late today, and there is barely mild drizzling today, but that's about it. Fedex has no problem taking your money and making guarantees within 18 hours of delivery time, but then there's a storm 2 states away and they give every driver out there a free pass to milk a shift. I've been in the labor/moving business, so I know how it works. Any excuse to get high and take a 3 hour lunch or a nap in a forest preserve. I haven't received my call back yet. Maybe it's because they can't get a hold of the driver...
On the possitive side, it's now officially cloudy in Miami, and the temp dropped back down to 86, so hopefully she won'y over heat.

Re: FedEx does it again
Yeah I am sorry, and really wasn't trying to sound ugly. I lost 5 animals in Jan that I shipped up to MI due to "extreme weather". The only problem with that was that I caught the delay very quickly (like that night actually) and the first person I talked to said it had been missorted at the Memphis hub. The next day they tried to use the extreme weather card, and I blew their lie out of the water, because I had complete documentation. My baby's arrived to the buyer 24 hours late and frozen solid (even with a heat pack). All I got out of it was my shipping back. Lost the sale and the animals...so yeah, I understand. On the flip side, I live in FL, and I could not even get my rodent order in this week because of all the delays.... I am getting some very ugly looks from a few of my slithery friends now....

Re: FedEx does it again
hey now, easy on the "miami drugged drivers" lol.. your talking about my home there dude.. j/k i sure hope the delivery has made it there by now!!! I would be totally stressed out too. How long is T in Fl? Hopefully there wont be much more of a delay if it hasnt made it to T, I know all of S. Fl is really stressing about the storms off our coast. Were especially stressing about Ike, that one is BIG and looking like its coming right for us in Broward.
Im praying our snakes dont lay until after the storms pass!

It' still not there, 5 1/2 hours later than I was guaranteed. I've been calling and complaining and asking to have the driver make a bee line to my desination every hour, but I'm not getting anywhere with Fedex. T isn't in Miami, I'm shipping to his exporter there, so it can make it in with a shipment to T in Bangkok later this month. And if Fedex has been, and still is having a difficult time making deliveries, don't make guarantees and charge for priority overnight. Either they can get it there on time, or they're having problems that prevent that. They seem to like having the best of both worlds, without any consequence.
