Thanks for saving me from having to type.

Re: Second stimulus check?
I was thinking instead of sending everyone a check what if they sent us a credit to switch our cars over to natural gas(it only cost a few hundred bucks)redemable at an approved mechanic.
It would save us alot of $ repeatedly, boost the economy(with the extra $ we have to spend), reduce our dependence on foriegn oil and help clean up our air. Of course they would have to tell the gasoline industry they have to provide that fuel as well.
That would be $ well spent, but it seems our government doesnt grasp that idea very well.
For those who arent aware natural gas is produced here in the USA, is cheaper and burns much cleaner(why do you think we cook with it).

Re: Second stimulus check?
Obama wants to give out a second stimulus check of a $1,000 funded with a new tax on oil companies.
We need new alternatives to energy and we need to get off of foreign oil. Gas is expensive and only going to get more expensive. HOWEVER how is taxing a company going to lower the price of their services? If you set a cap on how much money a company can make why would they ever strive to make more than that amount. If that company is suppling your country an essential ingredient to survival what happens 6 months into the year if they just shut everything down because they made their cap and there is no point in earning any more money. Money, PROFIT is why you go to work and why companies exist.
I swear on my life if I get a refund check that is directly taken from excess profit tax on the oil companies, I'll send the damn thing right back to Exxon and Shell as its out right theft.
If the government ever came to my door and said you sell snakes and mice are suffering from it and you therefore must pay an extra tax to the "let mice be free" fund I'd move my business across the border before I could slam my door.
Most politicians are still jumping on the bandwagon that oil companies MUST spend x amount of money each year on finding new renewable resources. While that is important, think to yourself really quick how ridicules that is. Shell is an OIL company, not a wind company, not a geothermal company. If you had a PHD in heart surgery, should the government really come to you and say that you MUST perform brain surgery?

Re: Second stimulus check?
Doesn't almost all politicians have their greedy hands in oil? How I see it, as long as they're making money off of it, why change.
Obama's idea helps both consumers and oil companies. You might see it as hurting the oil company, and they will surely make it look like it's hurting them, but they'll get it back plus some in the long run. They're gonna get their money either way, whether its from tax breaks, or charging us more for oil.
Uh oh, I think I saw a plane crash within 100 miles of an oil refinery, time for gas to go up....
Too many snakes to be declared "sane" as far as my friends are concerned....

If it's only a couple hundred bucks, then why dont we do it with the 1k we get? It's your 1k, do what you want with it. Now would be the time to do it IF you have it available. Once people start joining the band wagon, natural gas will sky rocket like anything else in demand.

Your right, the problem is, then why take a check in the first place. If your going to pay for it anyway, why borrow the money, just to pay back more in the future for even higher prices at the pump.... Your basically buying groceries on a credit card, its going to catch up with you as you pay twice as much in the long run once you figure in the interest.
