Friend getting beardie, need answers
Hey beardie fans. A buddy of mine plans on getting a baby beardie and I've been looking at caresheets for enclosure sizes. They all say "minimum" size, but I was wondering if there was a maximum. I have a plexiglass 36x18x18 tank that I dont need and was wondering if this would be too big for a baby.
I was hoping he could use this until the beardie grows out of it to step into something bigger in the future.
Too many snakes to be declared "sane" as far as my friends are concerned....

That is kind of a big tank for a baby but it depends on the personality of the dragon. Some are real nervous as babies and some are very mellow. make sure he has a couple of hides and a branch. If he feels alittle vulnerable he will chill in his hide or climb up on a branch. The problem with big tanks with alot of stuff in it is the crickets have too many places to hide so the beardie cant find or catch them, so take the stuff out when you feed so you know how well he's eating

What he said
What you can do, is use the big tank but place a divider in the middle to make the area smaller while he is young. When he is an adult he will definitely enjoy the extra room, but as Raul said, sometimes babies can get nervous with too much space.

Or you can feed in a different enclosure, which I recommend if you have a lose substrate that can cause impaction. Some babies will stress in a large enclosure.
