They have the market cornered since no one else will even look at a snake so they are very expensive.
It's the same with birds. My snake vet is also my avian vet. Good guy, but man I leave there with my hind end hurting sometimes. Last vet bill was over $500 on a new bird that came in we ran a few extra tests on before I brought her into my home. I agree though, totally worth it for the peace of mind if nothing else.
