Rub? Something else? Very odd...
My Largest female ball python Asus, has an odd spot on her nose.
Ive never seen this before, and im not sure it has to do with rubbing,or not... but hopefully a few opinions will point me in the right direction on how to handle this. If i should just wait until the next shed, or Bring her in to a vet now to see what could be going on.
I think its possibly build up underneath the scales...( Pus?Abcess?) but its possible its just swelling from the irritation and im just jumping to conclusions. Has anyone seen this before? its fairly concentrated to that one area of her nose, and the rest of her looks FINE! good weight, Great appetite * never misses a meal EVER* Looked in her mouth, and things look good there too. Shes a great snake, just.... not sure what this mark is from, and i dont want it to be something more serious.
She was moved to a new tub, from a longer one. Because i got new racks. and her temps are what they have always been at * no real changes other than size of her enclosure, which, if this is a nose rub, would explain everything, and ill probably just move her back.

Nose rub
My Possi Dbl Het Snow female has it and my Pin female has it slightly. They had this before I obtained them and it's gone down a bit since being here. My adult granite female looks like she has it a tiny bit because she's always looking for food... always..
As long as it's not increasing in size or the skin is red(might signify infection), then I'm sure she'll be fine.

Thanks for the response!
I will move her to prevent her from rubbing and just watch it like a hawk, now that i have some sort of clue. Thank you!
ive been watching the thread since i posted it hoping for an answer * as im googling pictures of other nose rub victims... and let me say, there arent that many out there to compare with!!*
Would you suggest Neosporin in small amounts? Im thinking, it will help with the healing.

It's not an infection but an irritation so neosporin won't be of any benefit.
It'll go down with time and is nothing to worry about so long as she does not rub to the point of splitting the skin.
If she does continue and does split the skin then neosporin would be helpful.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

Thanks wes
No neosporin then. Ive moved her so that she cannot rub, Since i have to use the lids on my new racks, there are annoying Edges/lips inside the top of the lid that would allow them to do this. (im planning on doing something to raise the tubs up so that i dont have to use them, if i can help it. plastic runners maybe...)

Re: Rub? Something else? Very odd...
if it's not much of a gap you can get really thin sheets of plastic and cut them to fit under your tub to raise it up. Wood would work as well if it's not to small a gap you need to fill.
Time to get your tools out again.
