Has any posted about La China - The Argentine dog?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7577275.stm

Saw this a few days ago and meant to post it.

Pretty amazing that a dog can carry drag a newborn for 50 m and not hurt it.

What is more amazing is that she did it at all...

What an awesome story! Thanks for sharing! It's too bad the dog is getting all stressed out now! Can't be good for her pups! I wonder if the baby will go back to the mother since she came forward?

I would be surprised if they let her have a baby after abandoning it, but I'm not sure how their laws work over there.. If this happened in the US I really doubt she would have a chance of getting it back.

And too bad about the dog being stressed! I hope nothing bad happens to her or the puppies.

I don't know how things work over there but considering the 'shanty towns' and the conditions those people live in, I'd guess they don't have much for resources as far as human services go. My guess is the government would be all too happy to give the baby back to it's mother. It would be a shame though.

Maybe they'll just leave the baby with La China? I mean she seemed to be doing OK with it.

Glad you enjoyed the link. Stories like that always warm my jaded cold heart a few degrees. Animals never cease to amaze me, yet hearing what she did, after all the animals I have had the honor of knowing, does not surprise me in the least.

What a wonderful story. Well, at least the part about the dog rescuing the baby, not the part about the irresponsible child having a baby and then leaving it abandoned to die (it always amazes me to a huge degree when people abandon babies. What is wrong with them??? I don't care if you are 12, 13, or 25, it is heartless). Now that my rant is over with...

That is an awesome dog. What selflessness. I do hope she starts eating again. The whole ordeal must have been very stressful. & I would hope that someone else would adopt that baby.
