yes a reformat is the ONLY way to be truly sure you get rid of all files involved. Its just like head lice, one tiny little fragment will turn back into a giant problem

But when I had lice I didn't have to shave my head! And my hair is thicker than.. well.. it's REALLY thick.
So I want to see if theres anything I can do first.

Thanks dr del, I'll try it and let you know how it turns out. I've already ran SAD in safemode, but I might have to again tonight (it takes 2 hours or so).
Edit: I downloaded Hijack This and am not sure what I should or should not fix.
It says that some of the files may be good or bad? How can I tell which ones are bad?
    Thanks again!

    Re: Computer Assistance

I had to get this off of one of the omputers at work. If it were up to me, I would have re-foramtted and called it good, but the PC was NEEDED for use that day.

It's easy to remove manually. Make sure nothing is booting up. run msconfig and if you see ANYTHING running on startup you do not imediatly recognize, google it and see what the hell it is. You also need to make sure your homepage is correct, and make sure you clear ALL cookies and temp files.

    run CCleaner

The two file you have to delete are on the root of C: .. I think. Actually, I think I just did a search for anything labled "*2008.dll" or "*2008.exe". I got rid of everthing and rebooted tha machine, AND IT CAME BACK! You have to make sure you REALLY clean it. I did all the same steps and caught one dll I missed, after I got rid of that it was gone.

Take your time and make sure you clean everything out, because if you don't .. SURPRISE! IT'S BACK!

That's the great thing about hjijackthis - you can upload the results file here and people will help you find out which entries should be removed.

My homepage is firefox google. However, I can not search google or go to my gmail account. This thing is preventing it.
Thanks dr del. I'm definitely going to do a complete reformat before college (within the next year) so if I can hold it off until then I'll try.
Agh, my internet isn't letting me get to ANY of my e-mails to register on that site. Frustration.
