    Computer Assistance

Before I get my computer sent back into Dell to get the keyboard fixed.. there are a few more issues.

Just a couple days ago, I tried to download a game off the internet. Ever since then two programs (Antispyware 2008 XP) and (Antivirus 2009) Keep popping up like continual pop-ups saying I have 'this many' problems/spyware/viruses on my computer and I need to register and buy this product immediately.
    It's very annoying.

So I go to delete the programs out of my files and program list.
    NONE OF THEM ARE THERE.

Heres the worst part. I go to do a system restore.. not only are there no dates to go back to except the one that this happened on, but I still can't do that. Whenever I try to do an automatic shutdown or system restore, I end up having to do a manual shutdown (improper). Right before it shuts down.. A BLANK BLUE SCREEN appears reading a bunch of numbers and a 'FATAL SYSTEM ERROR'.
And it won't do anything. I've left it overnight before.

So I go into safemode and run my Search And Destroy (my scanner) and get a few things and delete them. Try to do a system restore.
    No go.

Now SAD keeps asking me to approve of these weird things.. so I think I might have a spyware. I keep denying it of course but bah. Also, this thing thats happening prevents me from searching on google or going to many other websites. My internet is a lot slower now too.

    Any help at all guys?A

I've supported PCs like this for nearly 3 years and honestly I think it's time you started from scratch and ran your Recovery Discs or you did a Fresh install of Windows.

    Re: Computer Assistance

My neighbor had these exact same problems. Forget system restore, forget SAD. We tried everything we could think of. I even followed the directions online as far as manually remving AV2009. We ended up wiping the computer out. With Dell its called F11 it. It basically is the function on your computer that wipes all files that werent there when the unit was shipped. It takes it right back to the same ocndition it was in when you got it. Who knows, it might even fix your keyboard problem too. The way you do this, is when you start the puter, as soon as you see things come up, like the Dell splash page. or the POST check, press and hold F11. It SHOULD go into the menu you need

    Aight.
Any specific files I should refrain from backing up then?

My keyboard is missing keys, not a drive issue.

just an FYI we tried both of these programs, and both of them detected it, but as far as removing they were requring us to actually purchase the full version.

    Hi,

Reboot into safe mode and run hijack this or spybot search and destroy.

Not direct links but should get you there.

Sorry, don't know what to tell you. I've used both of those products appart or together several times in the last month to remove this.
For the record, you get what you pay for.

I would suggest a reformat if you cannot get those programs removed
