    uromastyx!

yesterday I was at Petsmart, and absolutely fell in love with a mali uromastyx there. She had the biggest personality. My mom even loved her, and she doesn't like to encourage my habit of bringing home new critters.
Anyways, I won't buy an animal from a store like petco or petsmart. so I didn't buy her. I came home, and did a bit of research on these guys, and their care requirements seemed easy enough. Their diet is similar enough to my tortoise's diet. So I started looking around to find some for sale, to get an idea on pricing and availability. Then my sister suggested I check craigslist, and I came across an ad for a pair of them, with all supplies, for a very reasonable price (cheaper than the one at petsmart alone). They were taken care of well, but the family just didn't have time for pets.
So now I've got them. I've named them Nick and Nora (although Nick is far from being the "thin man", lol).
The car trip really stressed them out, especially Nora, so I haven't gotten any pics of her. Here are a few quick shots of Nick, though:

Nora is a bit smaller, and a lot lighter colored. I'm giving her a few days to rest before I try taking her out for pictures.

I've got them set up with a full spectrum bulb, and a heat bulb. Hot end is between 110 and 120, cool end is in the 80s. Substrate is millet. They have one hide (I'm going to get them a second hide soon). And I just gave them a nice plate full of yummy food (mustard greens, bok choy, and cactus leaves - chopped and tossed like a salad, sprinkled with calcium powder).

    Just wanted to show off!

Nora was a bit more calm this morning, after cooling down a bit during the night, so I got a few pics of her... She still wasn't very happy, and kept making a weird growling/hissing sound, and went into an attack pose or something... It was really interesting to watch. Anyways, here she is.
