I have to laugh because my Terrier mix, Molly, is a huge drama queen. Whenever she wants my attention, or wants me to stay home (like when I'm off to work), she starts breathing heavy, lies on her side, looks up at me with this pitiful look, and makes little groaning noises. I tell you, she got me quite a few times, but after 10 years, I've finally learned to give her the Cookie Test. If I ask 'Does Molly want a cookie?' & she jumps up with perky ears (like she always does), I know she's fine. Of course, she gets the cookie.
Funniest thing is, my 1 year old Chihuahua has learned that trick now too. Except his groans are much louder. The 6 year old Mini Eskie has never caught on, though.
