Daytona show... Keep an eye on Tropical Storm Fay.
Well, for those of you flying in from out of town, you will want to keep an eye on the weather. Tropical storms at this point in the game are very difficult to predict. Right now they are predicting the storm will be passing well west of Daytona on Wed afternoon.... but truth be told, everything they are predicing now can and probably will change many times over the weekend. No reason to panic, just keep an eye on it, especialy if you are flying in early. The current prediction will cause cancled flights and delays on WED, and that would make Thursay a delayed, frantic "catch up day" Friday would probably be back to normal flight wise.
Here is the best link for tropical updates:

I think it was Hurricane Charlie that came through one Daytona year and they still held the show!

Oh, they won't cancel the show for this one!!!! But it is supposed to start raining tommorow afternoon, and rain every day for a week... so flooding is going to be a problem. I think this if anything will only effect the people trying to fly in early.... and the people counting on sunshine.

I need just a "little bit" of sunshine on Thursday - so we can take Diamond down to the park at the end of the beach and let her play in the ocean!
So, it's supposed to rain every day? That will put a damper on back porch festivities at the Hilton.

Yeah, but usually in August it is just afternoon thunderstorms that clear up at night.
Not sure if this will work but here is a link to what the weather channel says about daytona beach over the next 10 days...

Yep.........it was Hurricane Charlie at the 04 Daytona show. It was supposed to hit us directly in pinellas county but then it changed at literally the last minute and went south of us so we were lucky. That was on thursday I think.........?? Then it pretty much took I4 up through Orlando and out at Daytona on Friday. If you travel I4 much, you can still see the trees that were blown sideways. Don't get me wrong, I'm a house owner myself and do not enjoy seeing destruction to peoples properly and lives, but to me.....hurricanes and tropical storms are fun times. If you didn't grow up in florida then its probably hard to understand but usually its about a week of talking about it and watching the news, and everyone is scrambling around at Walmart and Home Depot while it looks like its going to rain Hell outside. Then the Storm either comes and its not what it was supposed to be (alot weaker by then) or it shifts and completely misses. Thats the hard thing about the storms. They have all of these "models" on the radar, but they are still very difficult to predict.
I guess I enjoy it cause' I never got snow days and always just wanted an excuse to miss school or work.........! Anyways, like I said.......I don't enjoy seeing destruction, so everyone be safe and take the necessary precautions.....yadda,yadda,.......

Thanks for posting this... I was going to do it here in a few if i hadnt found your post. Here in South East Florida (ft. lauderdale area) were ALWAYS in the "cone of error (ahem, death as we say haha) The updates are looking favorable for missing us locally and hitting the west coast but its still a PITA to have a storm out there. I have often found it interesting how unaware tourists are about the storms. I know they have already declared a state of emergency for the state and are evacuating the keys starting tomorrow, that was part of the 5pm advisory. www.wsvn.com is our local station reporting on the storm... that website gives the projected paths as well as the info not stated on the website previously shared...which btw is a great website. i hadnt seen it before.
Im hoping they dont cancel the daytona show!! This is our first year going!
Be safe fellow floridians

They won't cancel the show. Charlie blew through in 2004 on Thursday or Friday I think and the show doors opened on time on Saturday.
Karl and I are SOOOOO looking forward to driving down from Atlanta Wednesday night/Thursday morning through this thing!
