    Re: burned snake

Well, we found an emergency pet service place here and took him in this morning. They gave it some antibiotics and ointment for it's bad burn. The antibiotics will also help it's RI that it also had. We'll have to take it back in on monday for another antibiotic shot...and possibly more. $$.
Now I just have to get my brother to give me that snake...so it actually stays healthy! Thanks for the help!

If it was me in this situation, if I had to fork over the money for the Vet bill, then it would become my snake weather he liked it or not.

It sounds to me like you need to invest in a thermostat for the enclosure...

    Hi,

Main thing is a gaurd - even making your own out of hardware cloth is easy and cheap as chips.

    dr del

so how exactly would you put it together? Just kind of wrap the hardware cloth around the heat emitter and secure it to the top with the clamps?

yeah, I think basically, I will tell him to either pay me back for the vet bill and take care of his snake properly or give it to me. If he decides to pay me back and keep it though there is a lot he needs to start doing to take care of it...

    Hi,

Well that depends on your specific cage setup really. Here are pictures of a couple of mine - all cut and folded with the edges folded over (leave the sides one square long so it forms the pins to bend).

If you post pictures of the heater in situ we should be able to find some way of attatching them or finding alternatives.

    Re: burned snake

well, if we get the snake it's going into a tub with a uth. If he pays us back we're going to persuade him to get a tub. His cage isn't really made for a snake..and will never hold the humidity it needs either.

Thanks for the advice on the guard but I think just getting it into a more suitable setup is what it needs.

    well it's our snake now.
didn't like the idea that the vet bill is already up to 300$ so I guess new addition to our collection.

    this is it's main burn

it has that redish color in the scales pretty much up it's whole belly..but will heal.

and go figure in a bad shed...ontop of a RI which we have 5 more shots to give it. little over 600grams..and don't know what sex yet.
