    Re: super morphs?

Super isnt really a genetic term...its just the reptile world that uses it as far as im aware to describe a homozygous form of a Co-dom morph......as if super means more concentrated possiblybecause the super-pastel has two sets of the morph gene and a, pastel only has one morphed gene....

    that make sense??

    Re: super morphs?

From the beginning, I wish the reptile world would have called the morphs what they are. I know you have to name a morph first and breed it before you can even figure out if it is a recessive, dominant, or co-dominant (which I'm guessing is how this whole "super" thing started), but it would be nice if Pastels for instance were called Het Pastel or Homo Pastel.

My wife breeds chinchillas. There's a mutation called "Beige" and it's refered to as Het Beige and Homo Beige. The Het Beige is dark beige with dark red eyes, and the Homo Beige is like a light champagne color with bright red eyes - well the whole eye is red but they have blue eyes, if that makes sense.

Anyway, just a wish from a humble reptile/chinchilla breeder.
