wooden cage

I just built a wooden cage and I'm gonna put a pair of corn snakes in it and I was wondering how I would be able to clean and sterilize it. Can I use soap and water to clean it and then a bleach solution or is there something else I should do instead?

I know this is an old thread but i use Linoleum for all my wood cages.

I make my floors and pool for anacondas with this If you have the money to spend.I also use vynal flooring and you can cut it to your liking.The liner like you see here is perfect for reptile heat mats because you can go right over the heat mats with this stuff and it can be heated to over 175 f.They are 100% water proof and you can fined them at most gardening senter for ponds.Thats only if you house big snakes and like the real look of nature.

What i do is frame the bottom so this would be the base that your cage sits on and raises your pool off the floor about three feet.And for your pool, frame a box with your existing cage floor and use plywood to case it in. And always make sure you frame the inside and not the out side of the box frame because you don't want it to burst out lol.Then cut the floor of the cage any shape you would like for your pool.Then take some expanding foam and foam all the way around your framed box under your cage floor till you cover all the sides of the pool box .Then use a nife to shape the foam with your cut out.Then cut out a hole for a drain cap like you see in your kitchen sink.It is now time to finnish your floor with heat mats with the pond liner over top and covering the hole floor and the pool.Then frame your walls on top of your floor so the pond liner is tight and even.Then feel for your pool hole and make a small x so your drain cap fits tight and use non toxic silicone or glue to secure the the cap.This way your snake can take a bath in his own bathroom.You can now drain your pool easy by adding a tub underneath for draining.The walls are vynal and can cover a 12x12 sqft cage.I hope this helps

I'll try to get them up as soon as i can because i have no camera at this time but don't it sound goodI build lots of cages and i'll try to post soon.Its a little advanced but easy to show you how with pictures for sure.

Oh and i forgot that this is light made out of 2x2's.And pree drill your holes so you don't split the wood.3 inch screws.I like to use a table saw to groove out long strips out of the 2x2's so the glass slides right in place.
