help, help, help
Ok, so yesterday my sister got a bearded dragon and its in a 106qt tub...with a basking/hide spot....anyway hes been sleeping when we pick him up...for maybe 5 min a day just to show him off....I think it might be stress...I fed him 10 crickets today...im not sure if that was enough..hes under a regular house light right now but we have a mecury vapor bulb coming in...and we also got him a jungle gym and a lizard hammock....anyway back to the help what do you think is wrong with him? right now he's lying on the basking ramp (no light is on) with his legs spread out.

Re: help, help, help
Woah woah woah. Slow down.
I don't know much about them, but I do know that they need a LOT more crickets than that daily. I think someone said previously on here 25-50? Or was it 50-100? I can't remember, but either way it's not enough..
Make sure to dust the crickets with supplements too so that he's getting proper nutrition.
It's also a good idea to list down temperatures, humidity, what your heat source is, what's your enclosure like.

Re: help, help, help
Are you saying hes sleeping still while you pick him up and while your handleing him? If so then it seems that he is very Lathargic and needs to see a vet asap! how old is he? He should wake up when you pick him up. If he is older and you got him from a petstore then there is a good chance that he has not been under a uvb/mvb lamp and not getting the correct vits and calcium and a lot of other things. Though if hes eating I think that your saying that hes sleeping and then you pick him up?
Can you answer these questions for us?
What calcium/vits are you useing?
What is his basking temp?
What are you measureing the temp with?
What substrate do you have him on?
How big are the crickets?
Where did you get him from?
What substrate did they have him on before you got him, and do you know if he was getting supplements and the proper heat and uvb?
Make sure that when the MVB bulb gets there that it is no more than twelve inches away, but not cooking him.
Does he move his back legs at all? It could be impaction but there is not enough imformation here to make that assumption. Impaction causes a block in the digestive track either from wrongful prey items or its substrate. The pressure builds up and can paralize his legs( or kill him) and that is why I ask.

BD need more than crickets to strive...
Fresh "salad vegs" should be offered daily and removed.
Adults can take gut loaded crickets a few times a week for protein. That's all the crickets needed......
It has amazed me the misinformation offered in this forum...... across the board.
What are the temps/humidity/calcium/substrate/age? That should be the important question......
