    Ball Python on Craigslist

    Hey all,

What do you think of the ball up for grabs in this craigslist ad -
    http://rochester.craigslist.org/pet/783172870.html

That tank (even if you covered up the sides) wouldn't relaly work all that great for a ball since its all up and down, not flat, right? I was looking at the ad and was considering it, but I don't think that tank would work. Opinions?

    Re: Ball Python on Craigslist

I do not use tanks, so I probably will not be too much help. From what I understand, it is hard to hold heat in a tall enclosure. That is why most ball python owners, that use tanks, use long tanks, as opposed to tall tanks.

that tank should be fine for a while, it looks like the 45x45x60. it should hold the heat well, but with adequate ventilation also.

That's a horrible set up for a BP. So, you would be paying the $150.00 just for the snake. Not that the snake isn't worth it, but perhaps you could talk them down because you don't want the tank. If not, you could get a real nice snake from a breeder for $150.00 and have the piece of mind that nothing was wrong with the snake. There's always a risk with a private sale.

keep looking. they come up on craigs list all the time. maybe contact the seller and offer something for the snake alone (20-30bucks maybe?)

The tank is no good for ball pythons. I would only be interested in the tank if you had another species to put in it.

I never take the enclosures - I always make an offer just on the snake, without the extras. They can sell the tank on CL later. Some accept, some don't.

Why is this???? If they aren't good with BP's and they are trying to get rid of the poor snake, why would the fact that they are not good with ball pythons make you not interested?

I always take a particular interest in pets on craigslist where it is obvious that the owner has no idea what they are doing - I feel bad for the pet being taken care of inadequately.

I emailed him and asked him about just the snake and he said -tank too - because his ball python just *loves* it.... sure he does.
