So tonight I was talking with my father in law about the snakes that I breed. We started talking and I showed him some of the different morphs I was working with and that I planned on working with in the near future. We started talking about the market and how the economy has effected the market as well as how the market for ball pythons is in general. As we continued talking he expressed interest in possibly financially backing me in some of my breeding plans but to make sure it was a good investment he asked if I could get some details from some current breeders out there. I'm looking for information from small breeders who produce 20-30 snakes a year, up to breeders who produce thousands a year so don't feel like you can't chime in.

Basically some of the things he wants to know are:

How many animals do you produce a year (mainly focusing on 05 and forward even how many you've produced this year)

Of the animals you produce each year how many have you sold?

Of the animals you did not sell, how many were due to lack of interest and how many were due to holding them back?

How have you noticed the economy's effect on your sales? Have you noticed due to the economy that more high end or low end morphs are selling, and is this a change from when the economy was better?

Do you do most of your sales online, in person at shows, or in a retail setting?

On average how many snakes do you loose a year as well as how many snakes do you loose on average yearly due to incubation issues? (IE eggs going bad)

Do you find you sell more Doms/Co Doms, Recessives, Or Crosses?

I'd really appreciate any of this information anyone can give. If you do not feel comfortable posting this information publicly you can feel free to PM me or e-mail me with the information. Thanks in advance. Also feel free to post your website with the information so when I go to him with some of the information I gathered I can direct him to your site for a bit more of a visual on what you are producing. Thanks in advance!
