how can i keep up my ambient temps

Hey there,

I am wondering how i can keep my ambients up in this rack. right now it has 3" 6 watt flex watt under the left side of the tub. My fiance likes it cold in the house, around 74 degrees. right now i have a lamp hanging in the rack to try and boost them up but it is not working very well. My available materials are more 3" flexwatt and necessary hookup stuff. i only have one t-stat though. is there a foam i could use to keep it warm on the empty side of the rack?

Hmm, do you only have the one tub full? If so, you can get a pad called Four Paws 'Nature's Heat' UTH. It's a white, soft pad kind of like a human heat pad, made for animals...but they only get to 85 degrees. I tested this because an idiot I rescued a snake from only had this pad on her tank and I wanted to see how hot it could get. Had it plugged right into the outlet for 4 hours with an acurite thermometer probe right on it and it never topped 85.

It's a great pad to use for cool side heating and I don't believe they're expensive. Here is a link I found to a site that sells them, but with this you can do a price comp search.

Otherwise, it would be smart to get another thermostat...even a ZooMed stat...to control some flex on the cool side of the tubs.
