    Black Carpeting

What is so terrible about black carpeting that makes even the carpet company look at you funny when you say you want it installed? The wife is complaining that she wants new carpeting installed in the bedroom. I say if we put in new carpeting, I want it to be black and we can repaint the walls changing them from off white to bright white.
    She is not thrilled.
Does anyone have black carpeting in a room? If so, do you have a photo I could use to show her it's not a crazy idea?
I think I am compromising here. She wants a new carpet and I agreed as long as it was black.

    Re: Black Carpeting

...the problem with black carpet is that ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that isnt black is going to show on it....so if you had dogs, I would prolly say go against it or else you will be vacuuming hair twice a day...

...ha....well I just realized that I served you no good in your arguement...sorry! And good luck!

I had black carpet, LOVED it. And when you vacuum, you realize how much crap gets left behind when you vacuum other colored carpet.

    Go with black!

i would say go with ebony hardwood flooring... or more likely, a faux wood version. black carpet seems like it's asking for trouble - just like white carpet!

    Not helping here.
The only dog is a wannabe be dog. Looks more like a furry rat IMO but that's her little buddy. A dog should weigh more than a cat if you ask me.

my god I agree. I HATE small rats I mean dogs. I dont think they should be classified as dogs at all but put in the rodent family. Sorry off topic. hehe

    Re: Black Carpeting

My friends have a very large house, and oddly enough most of it is carpeted in black. Stairs, living room, dining room, etc. It actually looks nice when they clean up, and oddly enough, they have a dog and a cat who are both black I would Not suggest it if you have white dogs/cats. Being a person who wears mostly black, I know that after petting other people's light animals, I look like I am wearing a mohair sweater lol.

I don't like this comment. Some small dogs can be very yappy and annoying yes, but my dog is more affectionate than any dog or cat I've ever had and she's a small dog. She may bark, but she served well when someone tried to break into our car, they were caught because of her bark.

Black carpeting looks very nice with white walls I think, but you'd have to have lighter colored furniture otherwise the room would look very dark. :]
