I hope your baby is doing well. Just make sure she never gets outside. Without front claws she wouldn't last very long outside.

Clipping their nails and providing appropriate scratching areas will deter them from ruining furnuture/walls or whatever.

Spaying is a good decision, declawing, I've never been a big fan of unless it's on a very tiny kitten who isn't very large yet(3-4lbs). Declawing removes the first digit(bone) on each toe, so it is very painful, and sometimes can result in deformed feet. It can also change their personality since they know they don't have claws. So that results in them biting...

    Hope all goes well though!
I've had all but one of my cats declawed and grew up with a minimum of 5 cats in the house at any given time. All were declawed. None have had any problem. That said, I don't think she asked who agreed with declawing or not.

Glad she is doing great! Every time I've had a cat declawed/spayed or recently my dog spayed I have been a mess all day. The first question I ask when I get to the vet is how soon can I call to make sure the animal is ok.

Well, I must have an exception to that rule. My female cat was declawed, and was an indoor/outdoor cat in the city (before that, was a country outside cat). She did well all 13 years of her life. She faired extremely well, always running off big Tom cats, and bringing us presents everyday. I rather prefer my cats were declawed, but my male was a little old to be declawed when we got him.

Glad to hear Binka made it ok! Lexi is due to be spayed soon herself.

I've had all my cats in the past declawed, but the last one was botched, and she was in pain the rest of her life, and it broke my heart to see her walk so painfully.

As a result, we're working with Sammy and Lexie on the trimming of the nails and soon the softpaws.

I'll be taking the day off when Lexi gets spayed (Sammy was already neutered when I adopted him).

    Re: My poor little girl!

I'm glad she made it through ok! Try having her spayed and getting her back blind! I cried and cried when I got Leya back. Cats are amazing at adapting to new things. You would never know she was blind! Sadly there's a 1% chance of your cat going blind from a spay surgery, one of those things you sign for, but it's hidden under all the mumbo jumbo.

We'll be waiting for updated pictures!!!

Thanks Jamie! I had to find out she was okay by reading in this thread! Haha...jeez Mel!

As much as I'm not really a cat person, she's a spunky quirky little girl and I'm glad to know the surgeries went well.
