Re: Creepy Spider
I don't know very much about spiders but the shape looks like a common black widow, but the color is too light,at least for my area.

Re: Creepy Spider
I thought the shape looked widowish too but, like Dale said, definitely too light. maybe you could research that family of spiders? or something? lol

Re: Creepy Spider
I wouldn't even try to identify a spider, but there are a few different "widow" spiders. I believe there is a brown or tan widow, which would look a lot like the spider in your pictures.

Re: Creepy Spider
this is a brown recluse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_recluse
and this is a brown widow http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_widow
both look somewhat similar but I don't think we've got a match...

Re: Creepy Spider
Definitely not a Brown Recluse or Widow.
As best as I can figure is maybe in the family Clubionidae (Sac Spiders).
Neat spider! He is not medically significant, so, no worries.
Recluse

Re: Creepy Spider
It is not a comb footed spider nor is it a recluse. It is also not a True Spider (widows, recluses, huntsmen ect...)
The fangs look to be curved under the mouth so i'm thinking that it could be in the family of Wolf spiders (Lycosidae). There are so many of them. try whatsthatbug.com
I skimmed through the first 4 pages of the spiders and if you can't find any thing send them your photo and they will look it up for you.

Re: Creepy Spider
try this one:

from here: http://crawford.tardigrade.net/journal/album7030.html
Its a clubiona pacifica, a sac spider. It can be found in the following california counties: El Dorado Co., Humboldt Co., Marin Co., Mariposa Co., Santa Cruz Co., Siskiyou Co., Tulare Co.
might not be your exact species, but I'd be willing to bet that there's a similar species that lives where you do.
