I'm not judging you; I'm not saying that what you do is right or wrong. But I do want to voice my opinion:

I disagree with stunning the prey before giving it to the snakes. If the snake is a "slow eater" and refuses to eat when the prey is quick-moving, then offer frozen prey. There are MANY different ways to try to switch a snake to frozen. Otherwise, feed them a live, healthy animal.

The rat in that video is breathing hard and seems to be in pain. It doesn't even care about the snake moving towards it. Regardless of whether or not it knows just how much danger the snake poses, it should still have reacted. It's like I watched an animal give up on life, and that breaks my heart.

P.S.: I couldn't finish the video. I hope the snake ate for you and is now happily digesting in its house.

i dont normally stun them, my mom wouldnt let me put a live one in with the snake...
the shots are slowed and stuff, making it look like it was breathing hard... it really wasnt, trust me...

and yes she ate for me, and next time i feed her it will be f/t

Why doesn't your mom let you put live ones in? Doesn't want them to suffer I guess?

Anyway, I totally respect what you have to do to care for your snakes. I would never let one of my snakes suffer because of moral/ethical issues over their food. I just wanted to explain how I felt.

I would recommend either F/T or live. If your mom has a problem with it maybe just tell her it was stunned? If it is an appropriate sized meal there will be no danger in going with live. I personally feed live and find it much easier.

    BTW. Love the song.

the squeeling they sometimes do really bothers her... and she wanted to watch this one eat cause i just got it...

i totally understand you explaining how you feel

(like i said, i dont normally do stunned, its just that she wanted to watch, they will be f/t as soon as i get them switched, till then it will be live...)

and yeah, i figured the song fit well ahha

I really like the very last frame of the boa with her mouth wide open

Ya that last frame is pretty cool. Boas are very cool animals. Mine has started doing this thing where it comes to the front of the tub and watches me every time I come into the room.

I didn't watch it but just wanted to chime in on the f/t thing and let you know all 4 of my red tails (2 adults 2 08s) and hog island boa eat f/t like its going out of style! They seem to all be very aggressive or enthusiastic eaters so switching was never a problem for me, and if your snakes get as into it as mine do you shouldn't have a problem either if you do switch over.

Re: What boredom and rats bring me to...

Im going to switch them to f/t, but i only have small rats.

and i didnt have time to freeze and thaw out the three large rats i had to get... im ordering a load of f/t rats as soon as i get some cash [shouldnt be more than a week]

any way. i hope those who watched the video of my snake liked it, i was just wanting comments on the snake, i know how to care for them and feed them... and i know switching over should be a breeze -- every snake i own has switched over.
