Well, I might hazard a guess that it could be due to having only one hide in the tank and the snake looking for more security.
Also, it is good to have warm temps AT LEAST 90F (ideally 92-94F) and cool side temps around 82-85F.

The water bowl is a much tighter hide, so they will naturally hide there.

Ok so I need a tighter hide the one I got is not that big but it is a littl tall so maybe I will get some smalller hides. I just put the second hide in lets see what happens Thanks for the advice.

I don't know if it's advisable but if you can't get a smaller hide, I'm wondering if maybe you could put something in the hide to help take up the space...like newspaper balls or something? It's just an idea!

We thought we lost our girl and after tearing up half of my son's room (and cleaning it) we found her safe and sound under her waterdish. That was only the second time she had done it and also the last time...never really did figure out why she got under it.

I put a small flower pot with a hole cut in the side and he has just enough room to get in there he takes up almost the whole thing and he looks like he's happy now. He goes back and forth between them from hot to cold .

My Mojave always spends 2 days in his warm side hide after eating and spends most of the rest of the time in his cool side hide. Maybe for your snake the water bowl is warmer than his hide and it helps his digestion.

I keep the warm side at 85-90 but as long as he is alright thats all that matters I just wanted to now if it was normal.
