as far as i'm concerned, a breed is just a morph that has had its genetics proved through many different generations until it is what we think of as a breed.
i don't believe that 'morph' indicates just a coloration difference, but rather any genetic trait that can mutate spontaneously. with the dog example, humans chose which of these morphs to breed, and we eventually came up with many of today's breeds of dog.
