    Can Humidity Be Too High?

I use glass. I had finally worked out all the humidity kinks in Alice's 10 gallon tank. Two weeks ago, he moved into a larger home and I am using the same methods on a larger scale, i.e. homemade humidifier and plastic wrap. I place a couple of bowls of moist coconut fiber at both ends when shed is imminent. I also limit use of lights when he is about to shed.

Tonight I came home to find my Acurite reading 89%. Is there any danger in having humidity that high for a few days until he sheds? My substrate is a layer of newspaper and a layer of paper towels. I can always take one of the coconut bowls out for a while I guess.

    Thanks in advance!

For a couple days during a shed you should be OK as long as there isn't much condensation and such. Just don't want things to get soggy and encourage scale rot and/or mold.

Thanks! I figured those things were what I should worry about. So far, no condensation. In hindsight, he also peed and I had to pull out a section of paper towel and newspaper this evening. Perhaps that had contributed to the sharp increase. Maybe it will drop some now. The coconut fiber is in bowls and I keep an eye on it for mold. Good to know it should be okay temporarily.
