Re: where do you put your mice?

Well, I get all that stuff from Lowes Home Improvement. 1/2" hardware cloth mesh for rats, 1/4" for mice. The wire I use to attach is simple 22gauge galvanized steel wire. And both soldering irons I have came from Lowes as well... it's my toy store. Heck, half my TUBS came from there.

Re: where do you put your mice?

I only cut out the sides on most of mine because:
    1. I usually stack at least 2 high
    2. we keep our house on the cool side and it stays nice and snug inside for them without having to cover etc. (I have a lot of ceiling vents and it seems the rat and snake enclosures end up under one!)
They are simple to make just a little time consuming. Well worth it though because they are better than almost anything you can bye. Another great tip I have found on this board!

Edit: I also don't have a clue when I'll get around to buying that soldering iron. D:

Plus I want to make a hopper into the lid, just cause I use blocks and it makes sense. Bah, difficult stupid things.
Just like Adriana for me! Home Depot is one place we go every weekend. lol

I bought my hardware cloth at Tractor Supply.
I bought the 22 gauge wire from Home Depot (near the picture hanging supplies)
I don't use bungees, the hopper is usually heavy enough to hold any loose lids in place.

    Chris had the soldering iron

It's easy to make the hopper in the lid! I can give you a step by step if it would help Pm me.

Re: where do you put your mice?

Yeah, I left out the hopper since I feed Becky's Mix in addition to blocks. Since they eat 95% of the mix, all I have to do is pick up the nibbled on blocks to 'reuse' them before cleaning out the tubs.

Bungees are only needed with the rats, anyway.

Re: where do you put your mice?

Back to where you keep your mice...

I keep prego and nursing moms inside (had some deaths due to heat exhaustion), but grow outs and my sole buck mouse live in the garage. I feed off male grow outs first because boys smell worse than girls.

Other than that, yeah...clean cages frequently. A dozen grow out mice can smell more than 50 rats in the same room...=P
