    Thermometer for every tub?

Should every tub in a rack have its own thermometer? Would it be ok to just use one thermometer and then use an infa red thermometer to check temps on other tubs?

    Re: Thermometer for every tub?

Sure. I believe that's what most big time breeders do, since you can't have one meter for all 200 tubs. Just make sure the meter you use is in a central tub to get rounded off numbers.

Personally, tho... I just use one in each because I'm a worry wort and I can.

    Re: Thermometer for every tub?

Every tub dosnt need a thermometer. Just get a temp gun. Then you can open up a tub, press the button and presto. temps are checked.

I hope noone told you that there needed to be a thermometer in every tub... lol

    Re: Thermometer for every tub?

Nobody told me I needed one for every tub lol... But I have noticed that there is a slight fluctuation in temps from one tub to another.. nothing more than 2 degrees.... I just worry about a flexwatt failing on me and not knowing about it right away...

    Re: Thermometer for every tub?

Hence what I said about being a worry wort. That's why I do put a t-meter in each tub even tho it is certainly not necessary.

And yes, I have a temp gun. I just don't really use it much since right now all my enclosures have latched/secured lids that would be a pain to keep undoing/redoing every time I wanted a temp reading. Now, I just walk by my cages and glance at the temps.
With the rack, since it will just be slide out to open, I'll use the temp gun a lot more.
