Who here is a "deadhead"?
If you are truly a deadhead, then you already know what I am talking about. I just recently discovered the Grateful Dead and I just can't believe what I missed out on music wise. RIP Jerry.

I may be going to Hell in a Bucket, but at least I'll enjoy the ride.
Terrapin
Scarlet Begonias into Fire on the Mountain
Cumberland Mine
Stella Blue
Sooooooooo many many more.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

I think Peggy O is one of my favorites. There is an awesome video of a performance in 94 on youtube somewhere.

Calaveras County. Late eighties maybe early ninties.
Evening, sun almost but not quite gone.
Long day. Skydivers, Arieal Dogfight, Santana, Nevel Bros., David Cassidy or maybe Niel Young and then the dead.
Peaked a while ago, still blazing. Walking up a hill to get to the other side, where the concert is.
See a shadow on a concrete wall. It's a VERY active shadow. I know the person this shadow belongs to. I recognize the shape of the lip, the angle of the nose, the stance and body language are all familiar to me.
I have not seen this person in a few years. I have yet to see this person, so far it's just a shadow. But I know that shadow.
There were hundreds of people passing by, using the path, going up or down or stopping to talk as was the caster of the shadow I recognized. None of these distractions, none of those other shadows running. skipping, walking, flying over the one I knew, obliterating it completely or morphing it into unknowable shapes as they passed, one shape always returned and I knew whose shape it was.
By a shadow on a wall.
That's the kind of stuff that was not uncommon at Dead Shows back in the Long Ago.
Oddly enough, and along that same vein if slightly to one side, my brother and I simply could not put our tent up that night. The loops and poles were simply beyond us, impossible to see much less assemble.
We slept on top of the tent that night and have been laughing about having to do so ever since.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

If you want to find the truth in life, don't pass music by. And you know, I would not lie. No I would not lie........
