They are out for about 1/2 hour each. I think it helps keep them strong and healthy and of course used to people. I've really noticed they don't get as stressed when they are used to being held.

None of my balls are very shy. My corn is shy though...for a corn anyway.
Even with my limited handling, mine are very relaxed and rarely ball either. I don't have any that are shy either.
