She Loves Her Hide!

We had Danu here out for some picture taking the other day.....



For those that remember her, she's the W/C adult gravid import that we ended up adopting last year when her previous owners could not get her eating consistently after she laid her clutch for them. She's doing beautifully now, eating like a horse on her weekly ASF's and if all goes well, will breed for us this fall.

Anyways, Danu loves her hide - always has. When I took her out to take the pictures I grabbed her big heavy black rubber dog dish hide out and just set it aside. Between setting up shots I guess she decided she'd had quite enough of this snappity snap snap stuff and zoomed off to her hide.

I love my hide! I will hug my hide and glare out at you, you silly picture taking human thing!


And yep, I think it's time to move up in hide sizes (if I can ever get it away from her that is LOL)

Thanks hon. It has been just a pure joy to see a scrawny female like she was, defensively snapping at us and her dinner - turn into this big, laid back lady. She'll still give me a good hiss occasionally if she feels the need but all in all she's finally settled quite nicely into captivity.

The hilarious part was trying to get her, madly hugging her hide back into her big tub. She was flat out determined to not let go so I just sort of scooped the whole snake-n-hide deal up and popped them back into the warm end of her tub. All the time she's giving me the evil eyeball like "you do NOT think you are getting this hide away from me do ya lady?". Funny, funny snake!

Thanks Kevin, I was cracking up with laughter at her buggering off to grab her hide right in the middle of her picture taking session. Danu love, love, LOVES her hide and obviously she'd had more than enough of me trying to position her for a nice picture. For a ball python she can really book it too, one of the fastest movers in the whole adult group when she puts her mind to it.
