I really doubt it was her weight, breeders often breed females between 1200-2000g. Sometimes, first time clutches I have heard can be all slug outs. I know it is very common with corns I don't know as much if it is for balls. :]
Yes, an overweight female with a lot of fat can indeed slug out.

Jessie, I wouldn't even be feeding her X-L rats. I'd tone her down to nice mediums or small larges. You want her to be athletic, not fat.
