Alice's New Home
Alice outgrew his 10-gal pretty quick. I really enjoy glass, so I decided to stick with what has been working for me. I bought him a 40-gal this past weekend. Took a few shots during setting up (shown on kitchen table) and took a few a couple of days later in it's permanent spot in bedroom. Of course, as much as I wanted to handle him, I left him alone until today (feeding day) and he seems to have settled in just fine.

I hope I did those right.

Re: Alice's New Home
Okay...cool...they worked! I've since added two more vines across the back. It actually sits in front of a window with very heavy brown black-out curtains (I used to work the night shift), so he can feel securely surrounded on all sides. There are plants suctioned to both sides. His warm hide is on the right. His cool hide is on the left. The Acurite is situated on the left in the back with probe underneath the warm hide. One rule I am breaking is the "two identical hides" rule, but it hasn't been a problem before and until he outgrows that silly tree, I'm leaving it in there. The warm hide is homemade from one of those plastic trays that hamburger meat comes in from Wal-Mart (yes...it's been sanitized) and he loves it.
Okay...just thought I would share!

Re: Alice's New Home
I knew I would get the lecture about those things but I posted the pics anyway. After feeding, he could barely move around in his 10-gal or squeeze himself into his smaller hides. I went to a show this past weekend hoping to find just what I was looking for, but no one had anything. Seems everything is custom ordered and takes weeks. I felt so sorry for him I went out and bought the bigger tank. They didn't have the 20L, so I got the 40 and filled it with lots of stuff. For some reason it does look too big in the pics, but he's nearly as long as it is and weighs nearly 400 g. I think he likes it. He's behaving as he always has. As for the hide situation...he's getting a new one on the cool side as soon as I open another pack of hamburger meat! Until then, he likes the tree just fine.
Thanks for input...I appreciate all the help I've gotten here. Because of you guys, Alice has really thrived and made me a proud snake mommy.

Re: Alice's New Home
Here's a picture I just took of how it looks in it's permanent spot. Alice is in his warm hide digesting the two mice he had this afternoon.
Thanks for looking!
