Help w/ Texas Spiny

We caught a Texas Spiny yesterday and he is set-up and doing well. I need to know approx. how many crickets/insects he should eat in a day. I bought a bag of 15 small crickets yesterday and now he just ate about 8-10 in 2 minutes. Any advice you have about these lizards would be great! I have 1 ball python that I have had a year and a half and this forum has been great. TIA!

Yep. He was on my back porch. My son and I went to look at him and he didn't move around much. Not sure if he was someone's pet or what?!?! Thought it was strange that he didn't flee.

If you "caught" it, I would let it go... that has to be too much stress for the poor little guy. I cant imagine adjusting to life in a tank after living in the wild. Just my If you do decide to keep him I would make his new home as much like his old one as possible.

Yeah I based a lot on that caresheet but I guess I need to know approx how many crickets they should eat in a day. I have heard they do pretty well in captivity but if they refuse to eat you should let them go. He obviously has acclimated enough to eat.

feed like you would feed a beardie of the same size.
Make sure you have UVB.. if you dont, release it.
we dont know it's size. you cant really over feed them to much.

Thanks. I will look over the beardie care sheet. Are you saying that they won't eat too much or that I shouldn't over feed? Also the UVA/UVB is already hooked up on top of the tank. Thanks!

I'm saying they can over eat a bit.
But it's not a huge deal. You will learn how much it can handle. Feed a few gut loaded crickets once daily..
If it gets to fat.. dont give so many.
