My baby ball python has been shedding and yesterday she got the top of her head off but missed the eye caps and the new scales are really soft and dull. The area is so tender that she tryed to bite me went I touch it. I tried to remove the eye caps with mineral oil and when that did not work I put her in a container with water. Nothing worked so I put a few more rough things in her cage and left her alone. I checked on her this morning and it looks like she has been knocked out of shed. She will not eat and there are weird yellow spots on her underside. During the shed the humidity was keep at 70% and it has been 3 weeks since her last feed.

Okay... Sounds like you are on the road for scale rot.

Keep her drier and warm.

Don't worry about the shed for now.. let her be.

Leave her alone for a week. Watch her, but don't touch her, soak her, bother her, or anything.

IF the yellow spots get worse, take her to a vet.

I really would like to see pics of the set up. There is not enough information for me.

It's not damp alone that can cause scale rot, it's also filthy conditions quite a few things can factor into the determination of what is going on with the scales.

I took her to a vet and she dehydrated herself. I had water in her cage all the time and the humidity was always 50-60 unless she was shedding 70-80. She also told me that she was badly constapated. The vet said that babies are real bad about it and that they need to be soaked like a snake in bab shed. I soaked right when I got home and the rest of the skin came off and I had to remove her eye caps. Today she pooped eveything out I think. The soft spot was caused when she tried to shed to soon and the scaled did not develope correctly. The vet said to just avoid touching the spot and she will be fine.

Alright I do not know if the soft spot is scale rot or what but today she had a bald spot. Almost looks like something wounded her and I am worried that I may have a huge problem on my hands.

The spot feels dry and rough as well. The area is also wrinkly.
