Im A black pastel person. If you ever see a Black Platty( BlackxLesser) and then look at a CinnaPlatty( CinnyxLesser) you will see a HUGE difference.

As far As pewters go, it REALLY depends on the pastel as well. Ive seen the good and the ugly on both sides
